Ansonet van Heerden is a registered Clinical Psychologist in Potchefstroom. She received her master’s degree in clinical psychology cum laude from the North West University in 2004, following an internship at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital in Pretoria. She follows an integrative and holistic approach to psychotherapy. In 2005, she was placed at ‘Area Military Health Unit North West' in Potchefstroom for her community service year. A successful career in military psychology followed for the next 15 years. During this time, she received military training and deployed with fellow soldiers in military operations. She developed a special interest in trauma, stress related disorders and mood disorders. She gained insight into the psyche of the soldier and carried the senior officer’s rank of major. In her career span, she also consulted with the dependents (spouses and children) of the military members and developed a sensitivity for cross cultural psychotherapy. Her experience includes the treatment of depression, anxiety, PTSD, adjustment disorders, substance related problems, personality disorders, work related problems, relationship problems and bereavement.
