Some wonder what the purpose of life actually is, and suddenly realise the day they have their first child, and any subsequent children ,that they finally discovered the true meaning to life, and from that point onwards their life is all about their children, that is the beauty of becoming a parent, it is the purpose of life, the core of love and the pinnacle of caring for someone.
It's a Miracle
From the point of planning a child through to raisng a child is a magic process, and one that is filled with wonder, discoveries and a lot of learning, bringing life into the world is so often overlooked as one of the most wondrous and greatest miracles that exist.
Moments Gone By
This article today was infused by the family receiving news of a new girl that would enter the family soon, and as I listened to the young parents called Yovanka and Gerbrandt today talking about their young one estimated to enter our worlfd in early 2024, and the planning of the nursery, the discussions of that first day of having a baby in the house, their development paths, the fears and wonders that accompany such an occasion, I could not help but feeling nostalgic of the yonder years when our own children crawled around the house and placing everything conceivable in their mouths, time and decades have flown by so fast.
Empty Spaces
For many of us having the children out of the house brings with it that sense of having something amiss all of a sudden, even perhaps leading to empty nest syndrome, the pool is just a blob of water in the yard no longer splashing with laughter and happiness, the braai is a mere food cooking excersize and conversations across WhatsApp with the kids all over the world becomes the highlight of the day.
Grandchildren Time Capsules
When you get to this age, and you witness younger couples of the current generation having kids, you also realise how many of the wonderful joys of having children you missed, you were busy with life, with work, trying to carve out a place for you and your family, you missed moments you can never get back, or can you...?
We believe that is the reason grandparents love their grandchildren so much, they get a second chance to relive those memories, a second chance that is filled with more wisdom, more love and in fact they relive having you all over again, getting back those missed or forgotten moments, with the luxury of giving them back to their parents after a while of fun :)
Every Second Counts
All we can say for sure is that becoming a parent is a wonderful life changing experience, enjoy every moment, every minute that you can, before you know it those moments will be gone and you may never experience them again.
