“Find your tribe, love them hard and open your village to others"
Upon arrival, you are a bit overwhelmed by the sheer size of not only the warehouse but also the size of the premises that call Kleinplaas home. But when you enter the building and the aroma of Kleinplaas Coffee’s freshly brewed coffee and friendly faces greet you, you hear the sound of Maverick City playing in the background, there's a shift in the atmosphere and you sense that this is one special place.

Kleinplaas is the buzzword
There are various businesses that call the Kleinplaas grounds home. These include Kleinplaas Pype, Le Tour Cycles, Olive Gardens Nursery, Barbossa Solar and Kleinplaas Coffeee. It is also home to Ground Zero CrossFit and the new Padel courts that opened on the 17th of February.
Kleinplaas Pype, your A-Z of Irrigation

At their state-of-the-art irrigation and pipe warehouse, Kleinplaas Pype pride themselves on manufacturing high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) pipes, ranging in size, to meet the diverse needs of their customers. Additionally, they stock modified polyvinyl chloride (MPVC) and unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (UPVC) pipes, along with South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) approved pipes in various sizes. The inventory also includes a wide selection of water tanks and Trogtek products, ensuring their customers have everything they need for their irrigation requirements. Ferdie Huisamen and his team are committed to offering top-quality products and the best customer service in the industry, and their direct sales to the public model allows them to provide personalised service and expert advice to each customer.

Keep calm and pedal on
Le Tour Cycles, owned by the passionate cyclist Shaun Leach, stands as a beacon for cycling enthusiasts and is also conveniently located on the Kleinplaas premises. On the 16th of March 2024, Shaun will undertake a monumental journey, pedaling 1000 miles (1 600 km) from Johannesburg to Bloubergstrand, all in the name of charity. This ride is dedicated to supporting the local animal shelter, PAWS, a cause close to Shaun's heart. Le Tour Cycles invites the community to join in this noble endeavor by dropping off donations at the shop before or during the challenge. It's not just a bike shop; it's a starting line for change. Follow Shaun's journey on their Facebook Page for daily reviews and pictures.
"To plant a garden is to dream of tomorrow"
Olive Gardens Nursery, managed by the dedicated Gerhard and Carien Venter, flourishes on the picturesque Kleinplaas premises, offering a verdant oasis for plant enthusiasts. Renowned for their exceptional customer service, the Venters have cultivated a haven that consistently earns five-star reviews from satisfied visitors. With an extensive variety of flora that captivates the senses, Olive Gardens Nursery is more than just a place to buy plants; it's an experience that celebrates the beauty of nature, nurtured by the passion and expertise of its owners.

Shining bright
Barbossa Solar, under the leadership of Izak Snyman, shines as a beacon of innovation and reliability on the Kleinplaas grounds. Specialising in back-up power systems, the company serves the manufacturing, agricultural, and institutional sectors with unparalleled dedication and solid experience. Their expertise encompasses a broad spectrum, including generators, air compressors, step-up and step-down transformers, to only name a few. Barbossa Solar stands out in the generator market, manufacturing units ranging from 50 to 2000 kVA, which can stand alone or be synchronised in various multiples to meet any output size required. While they have a strong affiliation with brands such as Volvo engines, Le Roy Somer alternators and DSE (Deep Sea Electronics), their capabilities extend to building generators from any main brand, ensuring their clients receive the best possible solution tailored to their needs.
Kleinplaas Sports Village
CrossFit Community and Quality Coaches

What started out as a dream, finally turned into reality for Ryno Verster. After getting a lot of no’s and running into closed doors, the warehouse doors at Kleinplaas literally opened up for him. CrossFit Ground Zero started in 2012 when Ryno and his wife, Bronwen, discovered their passion for the sport. They started off in a field, with two mats and two members and the dream took off from there. When they moved to the current premises, it started off as Black Ops Fitness, but turned into a full-fledged CrossFit Box in 2018.
Being part of the 1% coaches worldwide that hold the CF-L3 Certification, CrossFit has become Ryno’s profession and he shares his knowledge through his coaching and seminars. The rest of the coaching staff are all L1 qualified or in the process of obtaining their certification, and they have become like family to the Versters.

A growing vision
The vision is constantly evolving and they are in the process of building a colosseum to host CrossFit Events, and future plans even involve a golf course - but all on God’s timing and through His provision.
Coaching and coffee
Dieter Viljoen, an L1 coach and barista from Kwa-Zulu Natal, has been part of this particular CrossFit community for quite some time and is in no rush to do anything else than living out his passion for health, coaching and coffee.
Teamwork makes the dream work
Jimmy, Ryno’s brother, is currently the manager at Kleinplaas Truck Parts and also in charge of organising the weekly Parkrun events that take place on the premises every Saturday. Parkrun is dependent on volunteers, but when they can’t find anyone or are short-staffed, the whole village jumps in to help on the day. “That’s the nice thing about our community, everyone is willing to help.” We also spoke to two of the workers, known by their titles Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff, and they mentioned that working here feels like working with family. You can tell that these two gentlemen truly take pride in their day-to-day work and activities, and that they are very grateful for the opportunities that have come their way.
Coach’s Table and Involvement in the Community
After each workout, the coaches gather around The Coach’s Table to discuss the sessions and workouts for the following day, and use Communion on a regular basis. They are also involved at a Muslim orphanage in Welverdiend, Carletonville and will be focusing on the girls’ fitness this year. The staff at CrossFit don’t discriminate against other religions, they love and welcome everyone - just as we are instructed to do. Like John 15:12-13 states, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”
Never a dull moment
There always seems to be something happening at the Kleinplaas Sports Village, whether it’s a barista course at Kleinplaas Coffee or a CrossFit event, there is never a dull moment. With its increasing popularity, especially in the Potchefstroom community, another Padel court officially opened at the Kleinplaas Sports Village on Saturday, 17 February 2024. The Padel Americano Tournament started at 07h00 in the morning and ended well after 18h00. Don't forget to book your Padel time slot for a day (or night) of fun.

Mini Jerusalem
One very interesting fact that Ryno shared with me is that the Kleinplaas grounds resemble that of Jerusalem. There’s something so sacred about that and when you talk with the crew, you can see, hear and really experience the level of intimacy each of them have with Him. God’s provision is so evident in each of these businesses and we know that there are great things ahead for this entire community - from Barbossa Solar all the way to Olive Gardens.
