Residents of Potchefstroom and surrounding areas have been urged to brace for possible power cuts following an urgent loadshedding warning issued by Eskom. After an unprecedented 10 months of uninterrupted electricity supply, the power utility has now flagged a high risk of loadshedding, citing multiple unexpected breakdowns in its generation fleet.

Eskom’s Generation Recovery Plan had significantly improved the reliability of power supply, but recent failures have drained emergency reserves, raising the likelihood of loadshedding up to Stage 4 over the weekend.
Eskom Group Chief Executive Dan Marokane reassured South Africans that this is a temporary setback and does not signal a return to prolonged power shortages.
With uncertainty looming, residents and businesses in Potchefstroom are advised to take precautionary measures and stay updated on Eskom’s announcements in the coming days.
