Aiming for the Golden Horns
Esteemed South African filmmaker, Stefan Enslin, is in the limelight yet again and this time for two remarkable nominations at the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAS). With a deep-seated love for storytelling and an innate passion for people, Stefan is on the cusp of potentially adding two Golden Horns to his already impressive portfolio of achievements.

A Diverse Journey to Filmmaking
Stefan's journey into the world of film isn't your typical story. Originally, he immersed himself in theology at the University of the Free State. However, he soon came to the realization that it wasn’t the path meant for him. Venturing next into the world of architecture, Stefan finally earned his degree in Urban and Regional Planning from North-West University.
But the call of storytelling was too potent to resist and in a bold move in 2011, Stefan decided to pivot from his career as an urban planner to chase his dream of becoming a filmmaker and storyteller. This transition showcased not just his dedication to his craft but also his willingness to follow his heart and passion, no matter the challenges.
A Storyteller with a Vision
More than just creating films, Stefan possesses a deep love for people. His desire is to see them embrace life in its fullness, a sentiment that beautifully transpires in his works. His narratives often revolve around the essence of humanity, relationships, and the profound emotions that intertwine lives.
His Documentary, War Dogs and I, which tells the incredible story of Kobus Olivier that refused to leave his beloved dogs behind when the war broke out in Ukraine, has been nominated as best full-length documentary and the inspiring Alwyn Uys Story, Against All Odds as the best Cinematogrphy documentary.
