Founded in 1905 as Potchefstroom College, Potchefstroom High School for Boys boasts a rich and diverse heritage that continues to thrive today. The boys who pass through the school play a crucial role in shaping and preserving the strong traditions for which the school is known. These traditions are at the heart of the school’s identity and contribute to the unique experience that learners enjoy.
A Home Away from Home
The school offers boarding facilities that serve as a home away from home. These facilities provide a safe and supportive environment where boys can thrive, not only academically but also on a personal level. The sense of community and camaraderie in the boarding houses makes it easy for learners to settle in and feel at home.
Competition and Camaraderie
Potchefstroom High School for Boys divides its learners into four houses: Barnard, Granton, Milton, and Buxton. Throughout the year, these houses compete in the Wood’s Bowl competition, earning points through achievements in sports, academics, culture, and social activities. This competition fosters healthy rivalry and teamwork, strengthening the bonds between learners.

🥦🌽 🥦🌽 🥦🌽 🥦🌽 🥦🌽 🥦🌽
The Potch Boys High Interact Club recently made a meaningful contribution to the community by donating fresh vegetables from their school garden to the Abraham Kriel Children's Home and the Thakaneng Child and Youth Care Centre. This initiative is a shining example of how small efforts can have a big impact, and it highlights the value of teamwork, generosity, and sustainable living.
From Garden to Table 🌱
The vegetables, lovingly grown in the school garden, are the result of hard work and dedication by the learners. With the help of equipment donated by the Department of Agriculture, the school garden has flourished, providing much-needed fresh produce to those in need.
The club members expressed their gratitude for the department's support, saying that without the tools and resources provided, this initiative would not have been possible.
Making a Difference 🌟
The donation has brought relief to both the Abraham Kriel Children's Home and the Thakaneng Child and Youth Care Centre, where fresh vegetables are always a welcome addition to their kitchens.
For the learners, this project was not just about growing vegetables—it was about growing a sense of responsibility and community spirit.
A Lesson in Giving 💙
This initiative has inspired the Potch Boys High learners to continue finding ways to support their community. By turning their school garden into a tool for giving, they’ve shown how small acts of kindness can grow into something much bigger.Well done to the Interact Club for making a difference!
