Established four decades ago, BirdLife Wesvaal has grown into a vibrant community of bird enthusiasts, contributing significantly to the appreciation of avian wildlife in the region.
Commemorative Festivities and Memorial Page
The celebration of this milestone begins with a special meeting on March 7, 2024, where club members and friends will gather to reminisce and enjoy cake and sparkling wine. This event will also mark the unveiling of a beautifully compiled memorial page, celebrating the club's rich history. This page, made possible by contributions from club members and friends, features stories, information, and photographs from the past 40 years, capturing the essence of BirdLife Wesvaal's journey.
The Main Event: A Weekend of Birdwatching and Celebrations
The highlight of the anniversary will be a festival weekend, from March 21 to 24, 2024, at the picturesque Elgro River Lodge in Potchefstroom. This event promises to offer an unforgettable experience for birdwatching enthusiasts, with a meticulously planned program that includes excursions, presentations, and guest speakers. The weekend serves not only as a celebration of the club's history but also as an opportunity to engage with the beauty of avian wildlife in a serene setting.
Cost and Accommodation Details
To accommodate different preferences and budgets, a variety of ticket packages are available. These range from luxury accommodation options to more budget-friendly camping experiences. Package details are as follows:
Package 1: R3,975 per person for luxury accommodation, all-inclusive.
Package 2: R2,650 per person for camping, all-inclusive.
Package 3: R1,500 per person for self-catering camping, including excursions and presentations (meals not included).
