Potch Gets Creative with Royal Icing and a Whole Lot of Sprinkles

From 10:00 to 12:00, My Creative Fix in Potchefstroom is hosting a hands-on Easter Cookie Decorating class, led by the talented Katelyn, who knows her way around a piping bag better than most know their own kitchen drawers.
Cookies, Icing and Only a Small Chance of a Sugar Coma
This isn’t just slapping some icing on a Marie Biscuit. Katelyn will be guiding participants through the sweet science of royal icing—covering the holy trinity of cookie decorating: piping, flooding, and layering. The end goal? Ten beautifully decorated Easter-themed biscuits that you’ll probably be too proud to eat (but let’s be honest—you will).
Expect pastels, bunny ears, floral flourishes and just enough skill-building to impress your family without requiring a diploma in pastry arts. No experience needed—just an appreciation for sugar and a willingness to embrace the mess.
Bring Yourself, They’ve Got the Rest
All materials are provided, so no need to dig out that crusty old icing nozzle from the back of the drawer. The class costs R200 per person, and is open to anyone aged 10 and up (kids must bring an adult, sorry no drop-and-go). Booking is essential, as spots are limited and sugar waits for no one.
The Space: From Concrete to Creative
The venue, My Creative Fix, is more than just a name—it’s a whole vibe. Located at 9 Reitz Street in Potch, the studio has had a bit of a makeover and is now bursting with colourful inspiration, blackboard walls, quirky murals, and enough seating to comfortably accommodate your next creative crisis. It’s part art lab, part Pinterest board come to life.
The team behind the space says it's all about learning new things, expressing yourself, and having a bit of fun with friends—whether that’s through crochet, embroidery, or, in this case, decorating biscuits that look too good to eat but will be devoured anyway.
