The renowned ARTi Interior – Art Gallery - Antiques is stirring the art world with its innovative and challenging international art competition titled "Re-Imagined." Beginning on the 18th of October and culminating on the 31st, the contest invites artists of all ages from around the globe to reinterpret and re-envision iconic artworks from history.
Celebrating the Confluence of Old and New
Under the theme "Recreate a Famous Artwork," participants are beckoned to reimagine masterpieces from the expansive timeline of 1200 Medieval Art to 1950 Modern Art. While the call references great masters like Picasso, Da Vinci, Monet, and Gaugin, it's an invitation not to mimic, but to innovate. Using one's distinct style, parodies, and original interpretations, artists can either pay homage to these titans or spin them into contemporary critiques.
With a generous first prize of R200,000, the competition promises to discover and celebrate some of the most innovative and talented artists in today's scene.
Supporting Young Talent
In a move to encourage and support young artists, ARTi Gallery has also introduced a special initiative. The high school with the most submissions stands to gain not just in representation but also in reward. One lucky student from this school will be selected for a significant prize, fostering the next generation of artists.
This initiative is in collaboration with "Making Dreams Come True in Africa," an organization focused on youth empowerment, further solidifying the competition's commitment to nurturing talent.
An Array of Artistic Mediums
From paintings to sculptures and wall-hanging 3D art, there's no shortage of platforms for expression. However, in a nod to the competition's historic roots, digital art, AI art, and performance pieces have been excluded.
Entrants will initially submit photographs of their masterpieces. From there, the top 25 will be selected and required to send their physical artwork to the gallery, where renowned curators and artists, to be announced in due course, will adjudge the final masterpieces.

Mark your calendars for the 9th of December, for the ARTi Gallery will be hosting a grand gala event. Here, in an evening of splendor and celebration, the winner of the "Re-Imagined" competition will be unveiled.
How to Be a Part of History
To partake in this groundbreaking competition, artists must purchase an entry for R230. A subsequent .pdf form should be filled out, with a copy of the entrant's I.D. attached, and emailed to the provided address. High School learners are urged to highlight their institution's name on their form, ensuring their school is in the running for the special prize.
