Position:

Instrument Technician

Experience Needed:

Minimum N3 certificate or -T1/T2 – Instrument Engineering qualifications and relevant trade test for instrumentation or National Diploma process Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering Light current. Must have 5 years’ experience in process control instrumentation in a Gold Plant processing. Experience in the following is essential – Siemens S7 PLC-Step 7; WINCC or SCADA; Siemens VSDs and Simo codes; Ethemet networks and Profibus and Field Instrumentation equipment, Citech SCADA Experience, LAN’s Setup and maintenance. Must be registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa as an Engineering Technician. Must be in possession of a valid Certificate of Fitness (Red Ticket).

Requirements:

Must have good management skills. Local area networking and PC experience essential. Must have knowledge and experience in PLC programming and fault finding, especially Siemens. Must have Knowledge of Density meter; volumetric flow meters; Radar ultrasonic; capacitance and Weightometers. Report writing skills is advantageous. Sound communication skills are essential. Knowledge and experience of Security and Environmental systems will be an advantage. Must have own transport and a valid driver’s license.

Duties Include:

It will always be expected of the successful candidate to live and reflect company values. Ensure compliance to the Safety, Health and environmental requirements as per MHSA and Regulations. Comply with applicable legislations, company standards, policies and procedures. Perform lockouts and make the work area safe before commencing with any job. Ensure optimal asset life through application of good maintenance practices. Execute all maintenance work in a safe and efficient manner. Identify and report stoppages or work requirements. Maintain SCADA AND PLC system in the Plant. Testing and calibrating of instrumentation control systems and field instrumentation. Will be responsible for the Safety, Health and Loss Control in his/her area of responsibility. Perform standby duties. Will report directly to the Senior Technician.
