Duties & Responsibilities
Hakki Africa is seeking an Accountant to join our growing team in South Africa. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who can manage a full set of financial accounting responsibilities, with strong expertise in IFRS, South African tax regulations, and Sage Accounting Software.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting
Maintain a full set of accounts in compliance with IFRS.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.
Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accuracy of the general ledger.
Manage and record foreign currency transactions, including FX revaluations and gains/losses.
Support the Country Manager during external financial audits.
Taxation
Prepare draft computations for VAT and Corporate Income Tax (CIT).
Ensure full compliance with SARS regulations and statutory deadlines.
Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors as needed.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Perform end-to-end AP and AR: invoicing, payments, collections, and reconciliations.
Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances.
Fixed Asset Management
Maintain and update the fixed asset register, particularly for vehicles.
Monitor and record transactions for acquisitions, disposals, depreciation, and asset movement.
Reconcile asset records with accounting entries and physical counts.
Coordinate with operations and fleet management teams for vehicle-related asset matters.
Insurance Claims
Handle insurance claims related to assets (especially vehicles) and general business operations.
Liaise with insurers, gather documentation, and track claims until resolution.
