MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Engineering Degree or NQF Level 7 equivalent is essential
Government Certificate of Competency Mines of works in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is essential (2.13.1)
Registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is desirable
Management/Leadership Development Programme (MMDP/SMDP) is essential
5 - 7 years operational experience, which 2 years are inclusive of a recognised junior engineering program training is essential
3 - 5 years managerial experience within the Hard Rock Mining environment is essential
3 - 5 years Project Management experience is essential
Ms Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential

Duties Include:
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To design, implement engineering standards and procedures, and responsible for overall management of the engineering functions within the Impala operations. The role encompasses the improvement of efficiencies and sustainability of processes whilst minimising operational and business risks and reducing waste.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Manage the effective short-, medium- and long-term planning of all engineering related activities and operations in support of Implats as an effective business (inclusive of utilities, technical services, and transport).
Ensure engineering compliance with statutory requirements (business, safety, and risk management).
Ensure overall effectiveness, maximum availability of equipment and engineering integrity (upholding of professional engineering standards).
Introduce new technology to ensure improved performance of equipment or infrastructure which are outdated.
Develop engineers for succession planning purposes and to ensure a pool of engineering talent is available for strategic employment purposes.
Effectively guide engineering staff in providing a quality professional service to Implats business units.
Ensure that capital and working costs are effectively managed with business plan parameters.
Ensure that there is a smooth co-ordination between the logistic Manager shaft and the vertical and horizontal operations engineers
Ensure that there is synergy between mining and engineering department
