MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 12 Certificate (NQF Level 4) is essential
Engineering Degree or NQF Level 7 equivalent is essential
Government Certificate of Competency Mines of works in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is essential (2.13.1)
Registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is desirable
Management/Leadership Development Programme (MMDP/SMDP) is essential
Project Management Qualification is essential.
5 - 7 years operational experience, which 2 years are inclusive of a recognised junior engineering program training is essential
3 - 5 years managerial experience within the Hard Rock Mining environment is essential
3 - 5 years Project Management experience is essential
Ms Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential

Duties Include:
To design, implement engineering standards and procedures, and responsible for overall management of the engineering functions within the Impala operations. The role encompasses the improvement of efficiencies and sustainability of processes whilst minimising operational and business risks and reducing waste.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Addresses the assessment and governance of operational reliability that could have an impact on the production of the operations.
The Engineering Manager will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of highly skilled engineering staff while ensuring that objectives and goals are met.
Manages risk to the achievement of an organisation’s strategic objectives in areas of environmental, health and safety, asset capability, quality and production.
Oversees engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect the operations.
Controls critical spare availability and usage through utilisation and application governance.
Leads and coordinates various engineering functions and operations including quality assurance, testing, production, and research and development of new and existing product lines.
Serves as project manager for multiple projects, creating timelines and cost projections, organising collaborative meetings, and ensuring projects comply with specifications, timelines, and budgets.
Prioritises and manages improvement and optimisation initiatives whilst ensuring engineering best practices are harnessed.
Strives to improve efficiency and sustainability of processes and product designs, whilst reducing waste.
Manages overall infrastructure including roads, power, and water usage.
Determines ongoing capital requirements, secure required resources including researching and proposing capital investments.
Establishes investment proposals for projects as well as oversee project budgets and cost management strategies.
Develops maintenance systems and processes for the production unit.
