WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Tertiary / Technical Qualifications
National Diploma or BTech/BEng in Mechanical Engineering, or an artisan-to-technical pathway (Millwright/Fitter trade with further technical training).
Formal training in rotating equipment — pump hydraulics, mechanical seals, bearing systems, and motor rewinding/rewind standards.
Vibration analysis and alignment certification (laser alignment, condition monitoring).
Working knowledge of SANS/IEC motor standards and pump performance standards (e.g. ISO 9906).
Comfortable operating within an ISO 9001:2015 QMS environment.
Experience
Minimum 10 years in pumps and/or motors, including 5+ years in a supervisory or HOD-level workshop role.
Demonstrated experience running a combined rotating-equipment workshop — not siloed pump-only or motor-only experience.
Hands-on experience with submersible pump ranges and motor rewind/repair, not only new-unit supply.
Stock and supplier management experience, ideally including imported product lines.
Mining sector experience — breakdown response, standby/callout culture, and shutdown-driven demand.

Mine Minerals Supplies & Services (MMSS) is a multi-discipline engineering and mining support group based in Rustenburg, supplying and supporting the platinum belt across fabrication, construction, pumps, motors, wear protection, laser cutting, mining supplies, and trackless mobile machinery.

THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Head of Department to take full commercial and operational accountability for our Pumps & Motors Business Unit — covering pump supply and repair, motor supply and repair, and our combined rotating-equipment workshop. This role owns the unit's revenue, margin, workshop output, and customer relationships.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Full P&L for the unit — revenue, gross margin, and stock turn.
Pricing strategy across local and imported pump and motor product lines.
An integrated workshop covering pump and motor repair, refurbishment, and testing.
Technical standards, quality control, and job card completion for all rotating equipment work.
Leadership of all Pumps & Motors staff as one team.
