Minimum requirements
LECTURER:
An appropriate BEng/ BScEng degree that allows for registration as Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA, http://ecsa.co.za), in terms of the Washington accord.
Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering (NQF level 9).
2 years' relevant working experience.
SENIOR LECTURER:
An appropriate BEng/ BScEng degree that allows for registration as Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA, http://ecsa.co.za), in terms of the Washington accord.
Either a PhD in Engineering (NQF level 10) OR a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering (NQF level 9) combined with professional registration as engineer.
5 years' relevant working experience.
RECOMMENDATIONS
LECTURER:
A minimum of (2) years’ lecturing experience.
A minimum of (2) years’ research experience.
ECSA Professional Engineer Registration.
SENIOR LECTURER:
A minimum of (5) years’ lecturing experience.
A minimum of (5) years’ research experience.
An NRF Rating.
ECSA Professional Engineer Registration.
Requirements:
KEY FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
Competent in Chemical Engineering subjects for teaching/learning purposes
Competent in Chemical Engineering computer packages such as ASPEN, Python, CFD Packages.
Competent in Chemical Engineering research in either Chemical or Minerals Engineering
Competent in the supervision of postgraduate students.
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
Must be able to work in an interdisciplinary field, and a diverse environment.

Job description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The incumbent should be available to play a leading role lecturing within the School of Chemical and Minerals Engineering as well as research conducted under the Centre for Excellence in Carbon based fuels.
JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching/Learning:
Lecture typical chemical Engineering Modules, assist with the projects and Design module of 4th year students.
Research:
Research is conducted on coal, biofuels, and water research to ensure continuation of the research currently being conducted.
Implementation/Commercialization:
Ensure the commercial implementation of research results involvement in community projects.
Management:
Involvement in the management of the School.

REMUNERATION
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
