Diesel Mechanic

Experience Needed:

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience as Mechanic General, Trade Test qualified in relevant trade (e.g., Diesel Mechanic/ Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic) post apprenticeship or learn ship experience. • Experienced trouble shooting and problem-solving skills on earth moving machines, trucks, forklifts. • Well imbedded machine specific technical knowledge and skills. • Sound interpersonal and communication skills. • Good technical report writing skills.

Requirements:

Advantageous: • Previous experience of equipment e.g. Forklifts, Telehandlers, Mobile Cranes and Tractors, Trucks • Basic General Standard & Procedural Knowledge • Basic experience of Hydraulics and Auto Electrical fault finding • Experience in Operating Earth Moving Equipment • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language, as well as Afrikaans.

Duties Include:

• Carry our repairs, services and maintenance on customer sites. • Remove and install components on customer sites. • Ensure safe work practice. • Maintain professional image when representing VME on customer site. • Quickly and efficiently deal with all customer machine breakdowns. • Compile accurate customer machine analysis and reports including machine inspection reports • Effective self-management and performance ownership. Willing to work afterhours, when necessary, spares and fuel by utilize ordering system and ensure availability.
