Experience Needed:

Minimum grade 12 or equivalent NQF4. N3/NCV level 4 qualification in Engineering. Trade Test certificate in welding. Coded welding certification will be advantageous. At least 3 years post trade experience as a Welder Experience in an engineering manufacturing environment will be advantageous.

Requirements:

Strong attention to detail. Must be a team player. Must be able to weld with various welding machines ie. C02, TIG, MIG, etc. An in-depth understanding and working knowledge of the manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Experience in planning and implementation of work activities. Good understanding of explosive environment regulations. Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively collaborate with multiple disciplines both internally and externally. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Computer literacy. Ammunition plant experience will be advantageous. Valid Driver’s License where applicable. Willingness to relocate if applicable. Good Planning and organizational abilities.

The purpose of the Welder is to support Boilermakers with welding requirements for all their fabricated structures and components, for assembly and erection of plants and equipment. The role will also be for the support of all welding requirements for plant repairs on existing structures, vessels and pipes, which require specialized welding. Weld structures for final assembly and integration. Shape, fabricate parts and weld components together to form structures. Position, align, and secure structural parts and related assemblies. Render welding assistance to Boilermakers for structural assembly requirements. Assembly of fabricated components from toolrooms. Weld structures to ensure integrity and adherence to compliance requirements. Advise on the type of welding required on specific job requirements. Provide specialized welding on pressure vessels and pipes.
