Duties Include:
The Community Outreach Worker is responsible for engaging with community members, organizations, and stakeholders to promote awareness of research/health programs, support recruitment and retention of participants, and strengthen relationships between the research centre and the community.
Job description:
Ensure that potential participants are provided with all the study details as described in the Participant Information Sheet.
Administer written informed consent.
Recruit and schedule screening appointments for study participants.
Assist with follow-ups to ensure participant retention and compliance.
Support the identification and recruitment of potential participants for research studies.
Required to actively be involved in community outreach activities aimed at recruitment drives.
Conducting enrolment activities.
Assist with all driving related activities required at site.
Being responsible for the proper documentation of all study activities.
Administer data collection instruments as required.
Enhance research literacy of potential participants and broader community.
Collect adherence data from electronic data monitoring devices.
Conduct qualitative interviews for example, focus group discussion, semi-structured or in-depth interviews.
Able to understand and implement Good Participatory Practice (GPP).
Data query resolution.
Perform costing study interview.
Observation of clinic-based staff and visits with participants (time and motion study).
Complete any other activities as required by the protocol or the study.
Complete, compile and submit study case report forms (CRFs) and source documents timeously.
Ensure all records on participants are completed and accurately filed with strict adherence to documentation handling procedures.
Maintain accurate study logs related to enrolment and other study activities.
Report on daily/weekly activities to the Study Coordinator and meet stipulated enrolment and follow-up targets.
Perform site driving responsibilities.
Able to work in a team.
Disseminate health and research information in the community using appropriate language and methods.
Help address myths, misconceptions, and stigma related to research and health issues.
Provide referrals to health and social services where appropriate.
