The Vaal River Meander Wine Route is celebrate its 23rd anniversary this year, with the flagship Vaal Wine Expo scheduled for Saturday, 30 May 2026. Held at the Pont de Val riverside venue, the event remains a highlight for locals and visitors looking to sample a broad range of South African viticulture without the trek to the Cape.
A Focus on the Vineyards
The expo provides a platform for over 200 different wines, curated from various wine farms and distributors across the country. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with representatives from top vineyards, exploring different varietals and styles throughout the afternoon. The tasting session runs from 12:00 until 17:00, allowing for a steady pace through the various stalls.
What to Expect on the Day
Beyond the wine, the organisers have arranged a selection of food stalls and live entertainment to complement the riverside setting. The atmosphere is traditionally relaxed, focused more on social exploration and the appreciation of the local wine industry.
Tickets are priced at R300 per person. This entry fee is inclusive of:
Unlimited wine tastings from participating farms.
