As part of the Phase 5 Thuntsha Lerole Service Delivery Programme, leaders from the North West Province and the City of Matlosana joined forces in a tree-planting ceremony aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and community involvement.

Leadership Participation
The event was led by Premier Lazarus Mokgosi, accompanied by Members of the Executive Committee (MECs), the Mayor of Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, Cllr Nikiwe Num, and the Executive Mayor of the City of Matlosana, Cllr Fikile Mahlophe. Their participation underscored the importance of building partnerships between government and local communities.

Greening and Cleanliness Initiatives
During the programme, trees were planted to support urban greening efforts and to enhance community spaces. In addition, the management of Tower Mall received 60 dustbins to promote cleaner streets through regular cleaning activities.
The campaign also focuses on maintaining the city’s trees through planting and trimming, while addressing environmental challenges by removing illegal dumping sites. These actions aim to create a safer, healthier, and more attractive environment for residents.
Community Collaboration
Residents have been encouraged to take an active role in supporting these initiatives. By working alongside government, communities can contribute to sustainable environmental management, helping to ensure that Matlosana remains clean and welcoming for all.
