The JB Marks Local Municipality, through Ward 19, will host an empowering dialogue session titled “Bua Timer: Unleash Your Truth” on Sunday, 23 November 2025, at Lusaka Community Hall, next to Seiphemelo School. The event is scheduled to start at 12h00.

A Safe Space for Older Men
The gathering aims to create a safe and open platform for men over the age of 50 to discuss personal, social, and emotional issues that affect them. Under the leadership of Ward 19 Councillor Simon Molefi Moretsi, the event seeks to encourage honest conversations and healing among elderly men who often face societal pressure to suppress their struggles.
Key Discussion Topics
The dialogue will focus on a range of pressing issues, including:
Toxic Masculinity
Mental Health
Fatherhood and Family Dynamics
Violence Prevention
Through this engagement, participants are expected to explore positive masculinity, share experiences, and find ways to strengthen their roles within families and the broader community.
Community Empowerment Through Dialogue
Cllr. Moretsi emphasized that Bua Timer is about “unleashing truth”, providing a space where older men can speak openly about challenges that are often hidden behind silence and pride. “We believe healing starts with dialogue,” he said, encouraging men in the ward to attend and participate fully.
