This Festive Season, the SPCA Carletonville and District is calling on the community to share the spirit of giving - not just with people, but with the animals who need it most. Their brand-new initiative, the “Santa Paws Box” project, invites residents to spread kindness and comfort to shelter animals through personalised gift boxes. Inspired by the well-loved “shoebox” donation concept, this campaign aims to ensure that every animal at the shelter feels cared for and cherished during the holidays.
What the Santa Paws Box Is All About
The Santa Paws Box project is a heartwarming way for residents to make a real difference in the lives of animals waiting for forever homes. Each box represents an act of compassion, a small gift that brings warmth and hope to dogs and cats spending Christmas in the care of the SPCA.
Participants are encouraged to assemble boxes designed for small or large dogs or for cats, depending on their preference. The goal is simple yet meaningful: to provide practical supplies and a touch of love to every animal under the SPCA’s protection.
How You Can Get Involved
Creating a Santa Paws Box is easy, fun, and impactful. Community members can select from three types of boxes, dog, cat, or cleaning, ensuring there’s an option for everyone to contribute.
Here’s what you can include:

Stainless steel food and water bowls
A can of wet dog food
A soft, cozy blanket
🐈 Cat Boxes
Stainless steel bowls
Cans or sachets of cat food
A warm blanket
🧽 Cleaning Boxes
Jeyes Fluid
Washing powder
Pine gel or other disinfectants
Every item, no matter how small, helps maintain the animals’ health and comfort while also supporting the hardworking staff who care for them daily.

Sponsorships and Donations Welcome
Not everyone may have the time to prepare a full box, and that’s okay. The SPCA Carletonville has made it easy for anyone to participate by offering sponsorship options. A small monetary contribution goes directly toward assembling Santa Paws Boxes and purchasing vital supplies for the shelter.
Sponsorships ensure that even more animals receive the comfort and care they deserve during the Festive Season, while allowing busy supporters to still be part of the campaign’s success.
