Public holidays are usually a time for relaxation, but for the team at Paws Haven Potchefstroom, this Youth Day is all about hard work, community spirit, and a whole lot of puppy love.
On Tuesday, 16 June 2026, the shelter is celebrating the "youth" in their care by hosting a delicious fundraiser to help cover the skyrocketing costs of raising dozens of rescue babies. With the shelter currently bursting at the seams, community support has never been more vital.

The Paws Haven "Baby Boom"
Running an animal shelter requires immense resources, but the demand multiplies when the facility is flooded with young, vulnerable animals. Paws Haven is currently experiencing a massive influx of youngsters that require round-the-clock care, premium nutrition, and extensive medical attention.
Their current nursery includes:
Over 29 puppies already in their care.
5 more puppies and a heavily pregnant momma dog currently on their way.
Nearly 20 kittens needing specialized food, warmth, and lots of love.
To give these animals the best possible start in life, Paws Haven ensures every single one receives proper puppy and kitten food, vital vaccinations, regular deworming, and any necessary veterinary intervention.
Tomorrow's Big Event: Pancakes & Kaaswors Rolls!
To fund the care of these sweet faces, Paws Haven Potchefstroom is inviting the public to skip cooking this Youth Day and indulge in some classic South African comfort food instead.
The Menu:
Pancakes: A bundle of 10 for just R50
Kaaswors Rolls: Topped with mouth-watering caramelized onions for R45 each
Event Details:When: Tuesday, 16 June 2026
Where: Paws Haven, 2 Viljoen Street, Potchefstroom
Inquiries: WhatsApp 063 181 3524
Every single cent raised from the food stall goes directly toward shelter operations, ensuring these babies grow up safe, healthy, and ready for their forever homes.
