The City of Matlosana Local Municipality’s Finance Department has announced the launch of new communication channels for submitting meter readings, effective immediately. The update aims to streamline data collection, improve response times, and enhance efficiency in the billing process for residents and businesses across Klerksdorp and surrounding areas.
Details of the Update:
Residents are now required to send their meter readings through the following official platforms:
Email: readings@matlosana.org
WhatsApp: 068 353 6788
The municipality has confirmed that an online submission portal will also be available within the next week, providing an additional user-friendly method for consumers to record and track their readings.
To ensure accuracy and prevent data errors, the Finance Department urges consumers to use these channels exclusively for meter readings. This precaution helps avoid message congestion and ensures that all submissions are processed promptly.
Submission Format Requirements:
When submitting readings, residents must follow the specified format below for both email and WhatsApp:
Account number
Meter number
Reading
Photo of the meter (WhatsApp submissions only)
Date the reading was taken
The municipality emphasised that photos should not be included in email submissions, as these can overload the system and delay processing.
Old Channels Discontinued:
Residents are reminded that the previous email addresses, meter-readings@klerksdorp.org and billinggroup@klerksdorp.org, are no longer operational. Using these outdated contacts could result in data loss or unprocessed readings.
