On 13 August 2025, the City of Matlosana announced the appointment of 60 new recruits under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). The initiative falls under the Directorate of Technical and Infrastructure and aims to strengthen municipal maintenance operations while creating local employment opportunities.

Work Scope
The recruits will be deployed to the Kosh area, focusing on:
Pothole patching.
Opening stormwater drainages.
Cleaning sidewalks and roads.
Purpose and Impact
The programme supports municipal objectives to improve road conditions, maintain public spaces, and enhance urban cleanliness. It also contributes to local job creation and skills development, offering participants short-term work experience within the municipality’s infrastructure and maintenance divisions.
