Two in-person cricket coaching events are on the cards this winter in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda region, with both being hosted at Klerksdorp High School. Designed for grassroots and aspiring coaches alike, these sessions are presented by Andre De Beer and backed by North West Cricket.
Coaching Forum: Sharpen the Basics
Date: 30 June 2025
Time: 15:00 – 17:00
Venue: Klerksdorp High School
Presenter: Andre De Beer
The Coaching Forum on 30 June is essentially the warm-up act, but don’t let the term “basics” fool you. This session covers a lot more than just grip and stance. Topics include the all-important ABCs: alignment, balance and control, applied to batting, bowling, wicketkeeping, and fielding.
Expect practical guidance on throwing techniques, injury prevention, and managing workloads, the type of stuff that helps keep players out of physio rooms. Powerplays and playing conditions are also on the agenda, just in case your squad still thinks they can sneak a third slip in during the middle overs.
If you’re eyeing the Level One course, this session will give you a solid head start.
Level One Coaching Course: Time to Level Up
Dates: 1 – 3 July 2025
Time: 15:00 – 17:00 daily
Venue: Klerksdorp High School
Presenter: Andre De Beer
Cost: R750 (includes Safeguarding Awareness Certificate)
Running over three afternoons, the Level One Coaching Course follows right on the heels of the forum. With the same presenter and venue, it’s a seamless progression for those looking to formalise their coaching credentials.
The cost of R750 includes a Safeguarding Awareness Certificate, which is more important than ever in modern coaching environments. There are also bursaries available, check the box during registration if you think you might qualify.
Just don’t leave it too late: the deadline for registration and payment is Friday, 20 June 2025.
