While many sports rely on speed and physical strength, the battle for supremacy on the 64 squares of a chessboard requires a different kind of endurance: mental fortitude, strategic foresight, and nerves of steel.

Curro Klerksdorp has announced with great pride that three of its sharpest minds have been selected to represent not only the school but the entire Dr. Kenneth Kaunda (Dr. KK) District.
A Battle of Wits at the Emerald
Liam Abraham, Chathem Appels, and Boipelo Moloantoa are currently competing at the prestigious Gauteng Inter-Region Chess Championship. The event is being hosted at the Emerald Resort & Casino, a venue befitting the high stakes of the competition.
The Best of the District
Selection for the Dr. KK District team is no small feat. It implies that these three learners have consistently performed at a high level, outmaneuvering opponents to earn their spot among the region's elite. They are now testing their skills against top-tier talent from across the Gauteng and North West regions.
Chess is a discipline that fosters critical thinking and patience, skills that will serve these learners well beyond the board.
Sharp Moves and Strong Confidence
Message of support: "May your moves be sharp and your confidence strong!"
Representing the district is a significant honor, and the Klerksdorp community in rooting for Liam, Chathem, and Boipelo. We look forward to hearing about the checkmates and tactical victories achieved at the Emerald Resort.
