Motorists in Potch are advised to plan for delays today, March 26, 2026, as an essential delivery at the Botha Pump Station has resulted in significant traffic disruptions. The disruption is centered at a key local intersection and is expected to affect travel throughout the morning and early afternoon.

Location and Impact
According to a public notice issued by the project’s Community Liaison Officer (CLO), the congestion is primarily situated at the corner of Chris Hani and Rivier Street, extending toward the main junction. The disruption is attributed to an "ongoing delivery" at the pump station facility.
The Botha Pump Station is a critical piece of municipal infrastructure, historically responsible for processing a vast majority of the waste from Ikageng and surrounding extensions. Given its location near major arterial routes, the blockage at this specific intersection is likely to cause a bottleneck for commuters moving between the residential and industrial sectors of the city.
Duration and Advice to Motorists
Officials have indicated that the traffic constraints may continue until at least 14:00 today. To prevent unnecessary frustration and long queues, the project team has urged the public to avoid the immediate vicinity of Chris Hani and Rivier Street.
Affected Area: Corner of Chris Hani and Rivier Street.
Alternative Routes: Drivers are encouraged to utilize parallel streets such as Govan Mbeki or Wolmarans Street to bypass the junction.
Timeframe: Expected to clear by mid-afternoon.

The CLO expressed apologies for the inconvenience, noting that the measures are necessary to facilitate the logistics required for the pump station's current operations or upgrades.
The Botha Pump Station has been the subject of various infrastructure projects over the past year aimed at improving sewage management and water reliability in the JB Marks Local Municipality. Today’s delivery appears to be a continuation of these localized efforts to maintain the facility's capacity.
