The event, which hosted over 2,000 delegates, served as the platform for the party to transition its executive structure following the resignation of John Steenhuisen.

A New Vision Under Geordin Hill-Lewis
At 39 years old, Geordin Hill-Lewis becomes one of the youngest leaders to helm the party. Born on December 31, 1986, Hill-Lewis has been a career politician within the DA, joining during his matric year and later founding the Democratic Alliance Students’ Organisation (DASO) at the University of Cape Town. His rise has been steady, having served as Chief of Staff to both Helen Zille and Mmusi Maimane, and becoming the youngest Member of Parliament in 2011 at the age of 24.
In his acceptance speech, Hill-Lewis emphasized a four-point plan focused on connecting with a broader voter base and maintaining the party's influence within the national coalition. Despite his new federal responsibilities, Hill-Lewis has confirmed he intends to remain the Executive Mayor of Cape Town, planning to appoint a proxy to manage daily party interactions within the Cabinet.
