The Department of Home Affairs of the Republic of South Africa has announced an outreach initiative to provide essential civic services to residents of Potchefstroom and surrounding areas. This effort aims to improve accessibility and ensure that citizens can conveniently access critical documentation and services.

Services Offered
Residents will be able to access the following services during this outreach:
ID Applications: Citizens can apply for new identity documents, an essential form of identification in South Africa.
Birth Registrations Within 30 Days: Parents are encouraged to register the births of their children within the legally required period of 30 days.
Passport Applications: The team will be equipped to assist with passport applications for citizens requiring travel documents.
General Inquiries: Community members can ask questions or seek guidance regarding any other Home Affairs services.
Cost of Services
For those applying for the replacement of lost identity documents (SIDC), a fee of R140.00 will apply. However, elderly citizens aged 60 years and older are entitled to free replacement of lost identity documents. It is important to note that only bank cards and SASSA cards will be accepted as payment methods—cash transactions will not be accommodated.
Schedule and Locations
The mobile unit will visit the following locations:
24 June 2025: Matlwang Village
25 June 2025: Promosa Hall
26 June 2025: Ikageng Location, Extension 7
These dates provide an opportunity for residents in various areas to access these services without needing to travel far from their communities.
Appeal to the Community
The Department of Home Affairs extends its gratitude for the cooperation and support of community members. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this initiative and help ensure smooth operations during these service days.
