Die Wilge High School Swings Into Action With 2025 Golf Day - 9 May

If you’re a fan of fairways, or just looking for a decent excuse to knock off early on a Friday, Die Wilge High School’s upcoming Golf Day might be just what the doctor (or principal) ordered.
Mark your calendar: Friday, 9 May 2025. It’s all happening at the Potchefstroom Country Club, with a shotgun start at 10:30am, so there’s plenty of time to stretch, swing and sneak in a breakfast roll before tee-off.
This year’s format? Better Ball, which means you can carry your partner (or get carried) without too much judgement. Whether you're a scratch golfer or a serial sand-trapper, all are welcome – the more balls lost in the water, the better the stories at the 19th hole.
Why the Big Day?
Die Wilge isn’t just about books and blackboards – they’re on a mission to provide quality education to learners with Special Educational Needs (LSEN), with a strong focus on vocational skills and personal development. And like most good things in life, it takes a bit of cash to keep it all going.
So the school’s hoping for a bit of generosity – in the form of players, sponsors, prizes, or just some solid participation. If you can hit a ball or sponsor a hole, you’re already halfway to making a difference.
How Much Is It Gonna Cost Me?
Pretty straightforward:
R400 per player
R1600 for a 4 ball
R1500 to sponsor a hole
R3000 for both a 4 ball and hole sponsorship combo
If you’re feeling generous (or the boss is paying), go big with the combo.

Who’s Behind It?
Mr AB Rudd, principal of Die Wilge, is the driving force behind the event – along with the dedicated staff and sponsors who keep the wheels turning. Or in this case, the golf carts rolling.
They’re asking for companies and individuals to get involved – whether it’s by donating prizes, sponsoring holes, or just coming along to play a round. It’s not only a chance to support a good cause but a sneaky networking opportunity disguised as a social round of golf.
