New Locations for Key Municipal Offices
According to the notice issued by Municipal Manager Mokgatlhe J. Ratlhogo, the changes are effective immediately, and members of the public are urged to take note of the new office addresses when making enquiries or submitting correspondence.
The following relocations have been confirmed:
Political Offices and the Municipal Manager’s Office have moved from the Old Mutual Building in Orkney to new administrative premises.
The Speaker’s Office is now located at 11th Street, Stilfontein Municipal Offices, providing improved space and accessibility for both staff and the public.
The Single Whip’s Office has relocated to 07 Voortrekker Street, Leeudoringstad, centralising political coordination within the district.
All other departments have been relocated to the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality’s Disaster Centre in Klerksdorp, a move expected to enhance interdepartmental coordination and service response times.
The Records, Supply Chain Management (SCM), and Finance Departments will remain at the Orkney Municipal Building, Patmore Road, Civic Centre, maintaining stability for core administrative functions.

Commitment to Service Delivery and Accessibility
The municipality emphasized that these relocations are designed to improve the quality and responsiveness of local governance. With offices now more evenly distributed across key towns in the district, residents are expected to benefit from easier access to municipal services and better communication channels.
In the official statement, the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality expressed appreciation to all community members and stakeholders for their understanding and cooperation during this transition period. “We urge the public to take note of these relocations for all official correspondence and service-related enquiries. A Step Toward Modern Governance
The restructuring of office locations marks a proactive step toward modernizing municipal administration within the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District, which includes major towns such as Klerksdorp, Stilfontein, Orkney, and Leeudoringstad.By centralizing certain departments while decentralising others, the municipality aims to balance convenience with operational effectiveness, ensuring that each community remains connected to key governance functions.
This development comes as the municipality celebrates 30 years of democracy, reflecting South Africa’s broader commitment to efficient local governance and citizen-centered service delivery.
Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to make use of the new office locations for all official matters and to stay informed through the municipality’s official communication channels and social media platforms.
