Parys Golf and Country Estate is getting into the swing of things for Father’s Day this Sunday, 15 June. The 1919 Restaurant on Vaal is cooking up a special menu that’s equal parts comforting and hearty, just what Dad needs for a perfect day out.
A Menu Worth Bragging About
To kick things off, there’s a soup starter that’s sure to please. For R55, diners can choose between a tomato soup that’s jazzed up with bacon and biltong shavings (because why settle for just one meaty treat?), or a hearty vegetable soup if they’re feeling a bit more virtuous.
Main Course Madness
The mains pull no punches. There’s slow-cooked oxtail (R188), comfort food royalty, served up with your choice of samp, rice, or mash, and sweet gingered carrots and green beans on the side. Or, if you’re after something more Bavarian, the eisbein (R195) comes with creamy mash, sauerkraut or veggies, and a dollop of mustard to keep things zesty.
For those who reckon you can’t beat a classic, the chicken schnitzel (R120) is crumbed and fried, paired with either rice or salad and a choice of cheese or mushroom sauce. And if seafood is more your dad’s vibe, the grilled king prawns (6 for R215, 8 for R255, 12 for R315) are served with rice and either garlic or lemon butter sauce, simple but spot-on.
Cheers to Dad
Because it’s Father’s Day, after all, the 1919 Restaurant on Vaal is treating every dad to a free Stella Artois (340ml). Nothing says “cheers” like a cold one on the house.
