Early Detection Could Save Your Life, Here's Where to Go
In an ongoing effort to combat tuberculosis (TB), the North West Department of Health has launched a free mobile testing initiative across the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District. Throughout August 2025, Mobile Van 1 and Mobile Van 2 will be stationed in key areas of Matlosana, including Klerksdorp, Jouberton, Kanana, Khuma, and others, to offer free TB screenings and X-rays to the public.

This initiative is supported by the Global Fund and implemented in partnership with the Institute of Health Programs and Systems. It is aimed at making early detection accessible, especially in areas where people may struggle to get to clinics or hospitals.

🔎 Why TB Screening Matters
TB is often referred to as a “silent killer” because it can hide behind mild symptoms such as a lingering cough, night sweats, or fatigue. In some cases, people carry TB without knowing they’re infectious, unintentionally putting loved ones and others at risk.
Getting screened early:
Detects the disease before symptoms worsen.
Prevents the spread of infection in your community.
Ensures quicker access to free, effective treatment.
These free mobile X-ray units are especially important in townships and informal settlements where people might not have the resources to travel to clinics. TB treatment is most effective when started early, and screening is the first step.
💬 A Call to Action for the Klerksdorp Community
The mobile clinics are a convenient, cost-free way to look after your health and protect your community. Whether you're feeling unwell or just want to be sure, stop by when the vans are in your area.
“TB doesn’t wait, neither should you. Catch it early, treat it fast, and help us stop the spread.”
🛑 TB is preventable, treatable, and curable, but only if it’s found in time.
