Residents of Stilfontein have experienced two consecutive days of planned water supply interruptions this week, as the Municipality carried out essential repair work on critical parts of the town’s water infrastructure.
The maintenance targeted urgent faults on a main water pipeline in Mooi Street and at the Jan Van Riebeeck Tower, with the aim of ensuring long-term stability and preventing more severe outages in the future.

Friday, 15 August – Jan Van Riebeeck Tower Repairs
Today, Friday, 15 August 2025, municipal teams are completing urgent repairs at the Jan Van Riebeeck Tower.Time: 08:00 – 15:00
Affected Areas: All streets within the boundaries of Somerset Street, Jan Van Riebeeck Street, Burgers Street, Wintervogel Street, and Neethling Street.
Residents in these areas are currently experiencing low pressure or no water supply, with normal service expected to resume this afternoon.
Thursday, 14 August – Mooi Street Pipeline Repairs
On Thursday, 14 August 2025, emergency repair work was conducted on a main water pipe in Mooi Street.Time: 08:00 – 18:00
Affected Areas: All streets within the boundaries of Stilfontein Street, Umgeni Street, and Thaokeray Street.
Many residents reported low water pressure or complete loss of supply during the scheduled maintenance window.

According to municipal officials, both repair projects were necessary to strengthen Stilfontein’s water network. Without intervention, the faults could have led to unplanned outages affecting larger parts of the community.
