The heart of Potchefstroom Central School (PCS) is currently focused on the welfare of animals in need. In a dedicated effort to make a tangible difference within the local community, the school has issued an urgent appeal to its learners and parents to support the local animal shelter, Paws Haven Potchefstroom.
A Community Defined by Compassion
Under the banner of #PCSCares, the school aims to instill values of kindness and empathy in its students. Paws Haven performs incredible work in rescuing and caring for animals, but they rely heavily on the generosity of the public to maintain their operations. PCS has stepped in to coordinate a collection of essential items that will make life significantly more comfortable for these animals during the approaching colder months.
Essential Supplies Needed for Shelter Animals
The school is seeking a variety of items to meet the basic needs of the rescued animals. Donations of both wet and dry food are required to ensure every dog and cat enjoys a nutritious meal. Furthermore, there is a high demand for blankets and towels to keep the animals warm, safe, and dry. Residents are encouraged to look through their cupboards for old towels or blankets that are no longer in use, as even the smallest donation has a massive impact on a shelter animal’s comfort and well-being.
Important Deadlines for Donations
The collection process is already underway, and the final date for all donations to be delivered to the school is May 20, 2026. The school management encourages everyone to submit their contributions before this time so they can be transported to the shelter as soon as possible. This initiative serves as the perfect opportunity for the school family to unite and demonstrate that the "Central" community is passionate about protecting those who cannot speak for themselves.
