In the world of martial arts, true greatness isn’t measured by medals alone, but by the legacy left behind. And when it comes to legacy, Shihan Etienne van Eeden stands tall as one of Master Joe Viljoen’s most influential and successful students.

Through decades of discipline and mentorship, Shihan Etienne has helped shape six Shihans, each of whom carries the torch of RCFA International’s teachings with honour and pride.
From left to right:
Shihan Johan Beytel (RSA)
Shihan Ingo Oosthuizen (NAM)
Shihan Alfred Grunnenberg (RSA)
Shihan Etienne van Eeden (RSA)
Shihan Gert Kotze (USA)
Shihan Johnny Welman (RSA)
Shihan Emsie Kotze (RSA) was not present but remains an integral part of this legacy.
🌍 A Journey from 1988 to Today
What began in 1988 as a shared commitment to growth and mastery has now blossomed into a global network of martial artists. Namibia, in particular, stands as a shining example of the fruit borne from the seed planted in Shihan Etienne. His impact stretches beyond borders, and through each student he has trained, the legacy continues.
🌱 A Powerful Message
As one reflection so beautifully puts it:"Only humans can count the seeds in a fruit, but only God can count the fruit in a seed."
Shihan Etienne’s seed has grown into a tree of strength, humility, and excellence, reaching from South Africa to Namibia and beyond. His influence can be seen across RCFA International, not just in technique, but in heart.
We honour you, Shihan. Thank you for planting seeds that will keep growing for generations to come.
