The City of Matlosana’s Marketing and Tourism Division, in partnership with the North West Parks and Tourism Board’s Hotel School, recently hosted a one-day training programme aimed at empowering local businesses in the hospitality industry. The initiative focused on building practical skills to improve service delivery and strengthen the tourism economy.

Training Focus Areas
The programme provided participants with targeted sessions covering:
Customer service excellence
Front office and reception management
Kitchen and restaurant operations
Housekeeping standards
Basic costing and accounting
By addressing these areas, the training sought to enhance efficiency, professionalism, and overall guest experience across the hospitality sector.
Beneficiaries and Impact
Registered establishments within the hospitality value chain were the primary beneficiaries. These included guest houses, bed-and-breakfast facilities, catering companies, lounge and entertainment businesses, and décor and events companies.
Participants received certificates of attendance, with both the municipality and the Hotel School committed to monitoring development and measuring the impact of the training in the months ahead.

Commitment to Growth
This initiative highlights the City of Matlosana’s ongoing commitment to skills development and sustainable growth in the tourism sector. By investing in local talent and supporting small and medium-sized businesses, the city aims to elevate industry standards while strengthening its reputation as a tourism destination.
