Introducing Duco’s Eatery: A family dream finds a new home in Potchefstroom

After five years of back and forth, Wimpie and Sandra Jacobs finally took the leap: Duco's Eatery will be opening its doors on the 1st of November 2025.
With an already successful eatery in Fochville, Wimpie and Sandra decided it was time to enter the Potchefstroom market, hailing from here as well. “We’re bringing all of our best sellers to Potchefstroom, but on a takeaway basis.” It’s been a long time coming, so when the perfect spot opened up, this couple didn’t hesitate. With Wimpie’s business acumen and experience within the food industry, they are excited to see this new dream come to life. Now the entire team is eagerly busy with renovations and enthusiastically awaiting the opening of Duco’s Eatery.
Where did the name originate?
Duco’s isn’t just a catchy name. It’s a heartfelt fusion of two family legacies: Jacobs and Dupper. Sandra explains that the business is being built with the next generation in mind, including their son, Reuben and his partner Sunel Dupper. Sunel’s father, Koos Dupper, also shares the Jacobs’ restaurant knowledge. The future is looking bright, as provision has already been made within the business plan to open franchises within the next five years - how exciting!
Serving up the goods
With their slogan, ‘Small bites, Big flavours!’, the expectations are high when it comes to the menu. The focus will be on comfort food, but also healthy takeaways. As Sandra puts it, what sets this eatery apart is “definitely our prices”. But make no mistake, affordable never means cutting corners. Quality remains the heartbeat of the brand. Along with the delicious dishes like their famous fish and chips and poke bowls, they pride themselves in their coffee. And while you’re enjoying a cup of coffee, grab a big slice of cake made by Sandra herself.
