JB Marks Local Municipality Announces Scheduled Water Shutdown for Essential Pipeline Upgrades

The JB Marks Local Municipality has issued a public notice informing residents of a scheduled water supply shutdown scheduled for Thursday, 27 August 2026. The interruption is required to connect pipelines between Sooliman Street and Sonderwater.
To complete the connection work, a major pipeline must be isolated in Sonderwater, which will temporarily stop the flow of water to the Sonderwater (Eersterantjies) Reservoirs for the entire duration of the project.

Date: Thursday, 27 August 2026
Start Time: 07H00 (In the morning)
Restoration Time: Water will be restored as soon as technical work is complete.
Municipal officials noted that once work concludes, the restoration process will take some time as the water distribution system requires re-pressurization before full supply is restored to all households.

Resident Guidance
Residents living in the affected neighborhoods are strongly urged to store sufficient water in advance for cooking, drinking, and essential domestic needs during the shutdown period.
The JB Marks Municipality extended an apology for any inconvenience caused by this temporary interruption and thanked the community for their understanding while critical infrastructure improvements are being completed.
