The JB Marks Local Municipality has announced a temporary suspension of its Indigent Token issuance program, citing unresolved administrative matters as the primary cause of the disruption.

In a public notice signed by Municipal Manager Mr. K. Kumbe, the municipality informed customers that the delay stems from outstanding levies and pending month-end processing that has yet to be finalized. The statement, issued from the Office of the Municipal Manager, emphasized the municipality's awareness of the critical role that indigent tokens play in supporting the community and assured residents that the necessary steps are being taken to resolve the matter.
“We understand the importance of this service and are working diligently to complete the necessary procedures,” the notice read.
The municipality has pledged to update the public as soon as the tokens are available again and extended appreciation to residents for their patience and understanding during the suspension.
The indigent token program is a vital support mechanism for low-income households, providing subsidized access to basic municipal services such as electricity and water. Interruptions to this service can significantly impact vulnerable residents, making timely communication and resolution critical.
