The JB Marks Local Municipality has announced the temporary closure of Louis le Grange Road from Sunday, 9 November 2025, to allow for the completion of major rehabilitation and paving works. The project forms part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to improve road safety, enhance traffic flow, and ensure a smoother driving experience for motorists in Potchefstroom.

Details of the Closure:
Previously, only one side of the road had remained open to traffic while upgrades were underway. However, the municipality confirmed that a full closure is now required to allow construction teams to finalise the road surface rehabilitation and the installation of interlocking paving.
The affected section of Louis le Grange Road will remain closed until all paving works are completed and the route is safe for public use. Motorists and pedestrians traveling toward areas such as Dassierand, Ventersdorp, Ikageng, Potch-Industria, and Klerksdorp are encouraged to make use of alternative routes through the town during this period.

Infrastructure and Community Impact:
This infrastructure improvement project is part of the JB Marks Municipality’s broader commitment to maintaining and upgrading key transport routes across the region. The road rehabilitation will not only extend the lifespan of the infrastructure but also contribute to reduced vehicle damage, improved traffic safety, and better accessibility for residents and businesses.
Way Forward:
The municipality has apologised for any inconvenience caused and appealed to the public for understanding and patience while work is being completed. Once rehabilitation and paving are finalized, the road will be reopened for use.
Motorists are advised to remain alert for updates from the municipality regarding project completion and route reopening.
