Friday, December 12, was a day of critical public service in the JB Marks area, marked by a major road safety activation on the N12 and a dedicated initiative to bolster local food security and economic development.

🛣️ Festive Road Safety Campaign Activated on N12
Law enforcement and public health agencies converged on the N12 in Potchefstroom for a comprehensive Arrive Alive Festive Campaign activation. The initiative focused on promoting safety and health awareness among motorists and road users in preparation for the busy holiday travel season.

The multi-agency effort included:
Road Safety Awareness: Distributing crucial information and encouraging responsible driving behavior.
Health Information Distribution: Providing materials on general health and wellness.
Disease Prevention: Distributing condoms for a safer festive season.
Chronic Illness Screening: Offering on-site health checks for truck drivers and other road users.
The Dr KK District Health extended well wishes, urging everyone to have a "Healthy, safe and responsible festive season."

A Crucial Message to Motorists
Councillor Thabo Macdonald Motlhatswi, Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee for Community Safety, Roads & Transport Management, conveyed a crucial message to all motorists, emphasizing the need for maximum safety and patience on the roads. "Don't let a moment of carelessness spoil your holidays. MAY WE ALL ARRIVE AND RETURN ALIVE."
The campaign underscores the municipality's commitment to reducing accidents and ensuring the well-being of travelers during the festive period.

🌱 Empowering Local Farmers and Food Security
Concurrently, the Department of Local Economic and Rural Development was "on the ground taking services to the people," focusing its efforts on community empowerment and food security.
The department, led by MMC for Local Economic and Rural Development, Councillor Malverine Davis, performed an essential handover to a small backyard farmer in the community. The recipient, the Tsehlekilweng Vegetable Garden, received vital resources intended to promote growth and sustainability.
Key resources handed over included:
A Jojo tank for water security.
Other vital equipment to help the garden thrive.
Councillor Davis and her department view this initiative as a direct way to support food security and empower community members to take control of their own food production. The department states that such actions accelerate service delivery, ensuring that the people of JB Marks receive the services they need to flourish.
