In response to this critical error, a corrected SMS containing the accurate Bank Reference Number was issued on Thursday, 11 December 2025. This rapid communication was essential to mitigate further complications for residents making payments.

The JB Marks Local Municipality has made a specific request to residents who made payments using the incorrect Bank Reference Number from the original 7 December SMS.
