The JB Marks Local Municipality has released a service delivery update for the morning of Thursday, 23 April 2026, reporting a substantial recovery in water reservoir levels across the region. The latest data, issued at 09:03 AM, indicates that a potential supply emergency in the Ventersdorp area has been successfully averted following intensified community water conservation efforts.

Ventersdorp Cluster Moves Out of Emergency Status
According to the report from the Office of the Acting Superintendent, the Ventersdorp Cluster has achieved a full recovery. This stabilization affects the water supply for residents in Mohadin, Promosa, Zakhele, the Extensions, and Sarafina.
The statistical breakdown for the Ventersdorp reservoirs is as follows:
Res 1 (15ML): Increased to 57.1%, rising from a critical 50.0% recorded the previous evening.
Res 2 (13.5ML): Reached 60.7%, showing a steady climb from 57.1%.
Res 3 (9.5ML): Measured at 64.2%, up from 60.7%.
Municipal officials confirmed that these levels now sit within safe operating parameters, allowing for the continuation of normal water supply to the affected communities.
Gradual Progress in Eesterandjies
The Eesterandjies area is also showing signs of improvement, though the recovery remains ongoing. The 5ML reservoir level rose to 36.36%, up from 31.82%. However, the municipality noted that the 10ML reservoir remains isolated as part of current technical operations. Residents in this sector have been acknowledged for their continued cooperation as the system works toward a higher capacity.
High-Performance and Stable Systems
The update highlighted several areas where water infrastructure is maintaining high efficiency. The Vyfhoek Complex remains the top performer in the municipality, with its units holding between 92.86% and 96.43%.
Other stable systems include:
Old Plant: 81.82% (Steady)
Ikageng West: 81.82% (Stable)
Ikageng Main: 77.27% (Stable)
