The JB Marks Local Municipality has confirmed that all municipal systems have been fully restored and are operating normally following earlier power interruptions and technical challenges that temporarily affected access to certain municipal services. The restoration marks a return to full operational capacity across departments, ensuring residents can once again access services without disruption.
At the same time, the municipality continues to make visible strides in its Accelerated Service Delivery Programme, with community improvement work currently underway at Lakeside Resort (Potch Dam) in Potchefstroom.

Restoration of Municipal Systems
According to the official statement released on Tuesday, 07 October 2025, the JB Marks Local Municipality has resolved the recent system downtime that affected administrative and public access to key municipal platforms. The issue stemmed from earlier technical challenges and power interruptions but has since been fully addressed by the municipality’s Information Technology and Electrical Services teams.
Normal operations have resumed across municipal offices, billing departments, and service points. Residents are now able to process applications, make service-related inquiries, and access digital systems without delay.
The municipality expressed its appreciation to the community and internal staff for their patience and understanding during the period of limited access. “We thank all residents and municipal officials for their cooperation and patience during this temporary interruption. The Municipality remains committed to maintaining efficient, transparent, and uninterrupted service delivery for our community,” the statement read.
The restoration underscores JB Marks Municipality’s commitment to technical resilience, prompt response, and community-focused service delivery.

Accelerated Service Delivery in Action
Parallel to system restoration efforts, the Department of Community Services, supported by the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) Team, has launched hands-on service delivery operations as part of the Thuntsha Lerole – Accelerated Service Delivery Programme.
This initiative, rolled out in the Potchefstroom Region, aims to restore, beautify, and maintain public spaces while providing short-term employment opportunities within the community.
The programme officially began on Monday, 06 October 2025, with crews mobilized to Lakeside Resort (Potch Dam). The teams are currently engaged in:
Grass mowing and clearing overgrown areas;
Tree trimming and pruning for safety and aesthetics;
General maintenance to ensure recreational areas remain clean, accessible, and welcoming to residents.
Municipal officials have described the work as a visible example of the Thuntsha Lerole initiative’s mission, to fast-track service delivery and uplift communities through coordinated action and civic pride.

Purpose and Community Impact
The Thuntsha Lerole programme, which translates to “work together”, emphasizes both efficiency and collaboration. It mobilises local resources, manpower, and municipal departments to accelerate tangible improvements in the community’s environment and infrastructure.
Residents visiting Lakeside Resort this week have already noticed progress, with newly cleared areas and maintained greenery contributing to the restoration of the area’s natural appeal. The municipality has encouraged continued public cooperation, asking residents to help keep shared spaces clean and safe once improvements are complete.
The EPWP component of the project also provides valuable temporary employment, enabling participants to gain work experience while directly contributing to the upkeep of community amenities.
Wrap-Up
The JB Marks Local Municipality’s recent efforts, restoring technical systems and advancing on-the-ground maintenance projects, reflect a renewed focus on operational excellence and visible service delivery.
By pairing infrastructure reliability with community action, the municipality continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving both administrative efficiency and the day-to-day quality of life for Potchefstroom residents.
