As service delivery efforts intensify across the JB Marks Local Municipality, the update for 12 August 2025 reflects ongoing gains in road maintenance, electricity and water services, sewage management, and waste collection. With pothole repairs completed in key areas, street grading in progress, and urgent sewage cases addressed, municipal teams continue to push forward on multiple fronts despite material delays and operational demands.
Road and Paving Work
Kruis Street (near Engen Garage Traffic Robots) – 100% pothole patching completed; road is fully drivable.
Grimbeeck Street (Hospital Line) – Critical repairs finalised; smooth access restored for emergency vehicles.
Paving Team Update: Work is on hold pending delivery of new materials, with resumption expected on 15 August 2025.
Yellow Fleet Operations
Ward 20, Extension 6 – Street grading completed to improve access for residents.
Electricity Department
Promosa Baipei – 200kVA transformer replaced.
Retief Street – Faulty pole replaced.
Stolen lines replaced: Cnr Kamp & Plein, Beyers Naude Street.
Streetlight repairs – Jeugd area.
Customer services – 4 cut-offs and 3 reconnections processed.
Sewage Spill Resolutions
Urgent sewage issues addressed on:
Peolwane & Kgwale (10030) – Spill cleared.
Jump Street (7950) – Blockage removed.
Extension 11 (17345) – Jet-vac intervention completed.
Siyakhula Extension 7 (12608) – Structural repair finalised.
Baitshepi Street (13809) – Heavy spill contained; follow-up scheduled for 13 August.
Waste Collection
Full coverage achieved on 12 August:
Household bins.
Businesses.
Hotspot areas.
Waste collection routes were completed by 14:00, ahead of the usual schedule.
Water Maintenance – Lekhele Street
Activity: Reservoir #8 cleaning and valve installation (ongoing since 11 August).
Expected completion: 13 August 2025.
Temporary impacts: Water discolouration and flushing near Sasol Garage; part of planned works, not an emergency.
Public Notices
Baitshepi Street sewer repairs – avoid the area; work to resume on 13 August.
Lekhele Street water maintenance – temporary changes to taste/smell possible.
