On 4 September 2025, the JB Marks Local Municipality released its verified daily progress report, highlighting activities across road infrastructure, water services, sewage response, and waste management. The update, part of the Thuntsa Lerole Accelerated Service Delivery Programme, reflects both completed interventions and areas where departmental reporting remains incomplete.
The municipality emphasized its commitment to community-focused service delivery, while also acknowledging gaps in accountability that hinder transparency.

Road Patching and Infrastructure Upgrades
In Ga-Mogopa Village, the Road and Stormwater Unit, led by supervisors Gift Lebele and Isaac Masilo, completed extensive pothole patching along Gamogopa Road.
In addition, speed humps were reengineered with 1m asphalt extensions on both sides, designed to improve traffic flow while maintaining safety.
🌟 Infrastructure Spotlight: The upgraded design is expected to reduce vehicle damage by 40% and enable faster emergency response times, striking a balance between safety and mobility.
Water Services: System Optimisation
The water services team focused on advanced leak detection and mainline repairs.
Key Projects:
Tambo and Tilo Street – Leak detection underway
Moloko Street, Matlwang Section – Mainline repair, complicated by excessively high water pressure
Community members were advised of potential intermittent disruptions in the area, with water tankers placed on standby.
Sewage Spillage Response
Rapid intervention teams successfully managed three incidents on 4 September:
✅ 398 Letsie Street – Mainline unblocked
✅ 1466 Mabuya Street – Manhole cleared
✅ Extension 9 at N12 – Traffic-disrupting sewage issue resolved
Waste Management: Daily Reliability
Under the supervision of Mme Felicity Janson, waste management maintained a 100% collection rate:
✅ Household bins collected
✅ Business premises serviced
✅ Hotspots cleared
Missing Department Reports
Despite progress in several areas, the report flagged five departments that failed to submit updates:
Road Marking Team – Line marking and signage updates pending
Parks & Recreation – Grass cutting, playground and sports field maintenance not reported
Electricity Department – No update on faults, connections, or streetlight maintenance
Heavy Machinery (Yellow Fleet) – No status on gravel grading or trench support
Water & Sanitation – Town Operations
Water Team: No confirmation of repairs, meter work, or reservoir checks
Sewage Team: No update on blockages, manhole maintenance, or spill responses
The municipality warned that missing reports compromise public safety and make it difficult to respond effectively to community concerns.

Final Word
The 4 September report demonstrates both strong frontline performance in road maintenance, water system management, sewage interventions, and waste collection, as well as the challenges of incomplete reporting from several departments.
While visible progress continues under the Thuntsa Lerole programme, municipal leaders stressed the need for accountability to ensure that every department’s contributions are recorded and recognized. For residents, the commitment remains clear: safe, reliable, and responsive service delivery across JB Marks.
