The latest JB Marks Municipality service delivery report highlights a day of major infrastructure achievements, including the long-awaited completion of the Ventersdorp Road Pump Station upgrade, significant road repairs on Ikageng Weg and Promosa Road, rapid sewer interventions across multiple sites, and flawless waste collection. With over 40 municipal professionals deployed, the coordinated efforts delivered both immediate community relief and long-term improvements in water security, public health, and road safety.

Roads: Dual Success Across Ikageng Weg and Promosa
Service delivery teams achieved significant progress on local roads, focusing on Ikageng Weg and Promosa Road.
Ikageng Weg: 100% completion of road repairs, with water-damaged potholes fully restored, squared, asphalted, and sealed.
Promosa Road: 60% progress recorded, covering work from the Promosa Road corner to Chubby Chick. Potholes were squared, asphalt filled, compacted, and sealed, with work continuing until full completion.
The projects were supervised by Gift Lebele and Isaka Masilo, with the aim of ensuring long-term durability against future road damage.
Electricity: Complex Systems Restored
The Electricity Department, under Acting Director Mike Maki, managed multiple technical interventions across the municipality.
Key achievements included:
Isolation of a mini-substation in Dock Street for cable joint repairs.
Power restoration at VSD Abatour following cable repair.
Circuit breaker replacement at Buffelsvlei.
Ringfeed reactivation of the SK line and jumper reinstallations.
Repairs to a damaged supply box and breakers in Cochrane and Visser Streets.
These operations combined substation-level work with street-level repairs, strengthening overall grid stability.
Sewer and Sanitation: Ten Blockages Cleared
Sanitation teams executed rapid interventions to prevent health hazards and environmental risks, clearing ten blockages in a single day.
Critical sites included:
Letsie Street and Tswere, where severe spillages were resolved.
Bathoeng, Molotlegi, and Montshiwa, where mainlines were restored.
Baille Creek and Swallow Street, cleared to prevent further contamination.
The work was led by supervisors Ntate Motsamai and Ntate Tofile, with urgent responses prioritising both residential and environmentally sensitive areas.
Water Services: Pump Station Upgrade Completed
A major milestone was achieved with the completion of the Ventersdorp Road Pump Station upgrade. Pumping operations have resumed following extensive infrastructure work.
System recharge is underway.
Low-lying areas expected to receive water the same evening.
High-lying areas, including the Ikageng Extensions, scheduled for full restoration by the following day.
Additional water services included new meter and valve installations on Hector Peterson Street and Arabelang Street. While most areas reported normal restoration, pressure remained low in Extension 7 as systems rebalanced.
Waste Management: Consistent Performance
Waste management services once again reported 100% completion rates for household, business, and hotspot collections. Supervisor Felicity Jansen credited the consistency of her team in maintaining community health and cleanliness.
Departments Awaiting Reports
Several departments did not submit updates, including the Paving Team, Yellow Fleet, Parks Department, Road Marking, Illegal Dumping Teams, Urban Water, and Reservoir Status. Municipal leadership reiterated the importance of reporting for effective coordination and recognition of contributions.
The day’s measurable outcomes included:
2 major roads serviced (one fully completed, one at 60%).
