The EVE Horse Sanctuary is gearing up for a relaxed and rather lively morning on Saturday 29 November 2025. Families, friends and anyone who enjoys the comforting smell of horses and the occasional competitive spirit are invited to join the Kids Western and Adult Reining Fun Day. It promises to be a straightforward, good-natured outing without the need to polish boots or pretend to know the difference between a lope and a trot.
A Day Built Around Horses and Heart
The sanctuary describes itself as a place where horses offer healing, friendship and a bit of calm in a busy world. The Fun Day keeps to that theme. Visitors can expect a friendly atmosphere and a crowd that’s keen to cheer, comment quietly under their breath, or simply sit back and take it all in.
The morning begins with the Kids Western Mounted Games from 08:00 to 10:30. Young riders will take on patterns, turns and all the small victories that come with learning to work with a horse. After a short breather, the grown-ups take the arena for Adult Reining from 11:00 to 13:00. Their goal: demonstrate control, confidence and, ideally, stay in the saddle while looking like they planned everything that happens.
What It Costs and What To Bring
Entrance is R20 per person. The organisers recommend bringing a chair unless you enjoy balancing on your haunches for five hours.
Food stalls will be available, perfect for anyone who’d rather not pack snacks or attempt a flask-and-sandwich situation at sunrise.
There is also a special opportunity available to only thirty families. For R500 per month, visitors can enjoy monthly access to the sanctuary’s peaceful picnic area. It is a way to experience the quieter side of the venue long after the event dust has settled.
Stallholders and Coffee Vans Welcome
Anyone operating a food stall or a mobile coffee truck and keen to join the event can contact Em-Esna on 072-195-2821. She is also the best point of contact for general enquiries, urgent questions or confirming whether your horse-themed outfit is going a bit too far.
EVE Horse Sanctuary remains dedicated to offering a safe haven for both people and horses. Their message is simple: nature, animals and steady companionship can help restore a bit of peace. The Fun Day is part of that mission, inviting the community to spend time outdoors, enjoy the riders’ progress and perhaps leave feeling a little lighter.
